When a parent learns their child is diagnosed with a developmental disability can be an extremely confusing and overwhelming experience. During this process, families must learn to cope with new challenges and responsibilities associated with having a loved one on the spectrum. In addition to the emotional journey, families caring for special needs children often struggle financially to make ends meet.

Here at Corrigan Insurance Agency, we want to alleviate families of added stress during these unprecedented times. We want to dedicate our efforts to spreading awareness and advocating for our community’s most vulnerable neighbors’ unique needs. This is why we here at our agency support the work of the Autism Society of Northern Virginia, an organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for all in the disability community. 

We believe people deserve an equal opportunity to develop and reach their full potential and live a high-quality life without discrimination or bias. The many misconceptions associated with intellectual disabilities have led flawed perception of what it is like to live on the spectrum. 

ASNV exists to break the stigma through building strong community relationships for the 5,000 individuals and families in our community affected by autism through education, advocacy, and support. They strive to provide families with effective, safe, inexpensive, local, and readily available resources to support individuals in achieving their goals. More than 50 years after opening its doors, the ASNV continues to inspire others to advocate for the equal rights and community inclusion of individuals living with developmental disabilities.
